Why Varsity College?

Varsity College is an educational brand of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) (Pty) Ltd. The IIE enjoys the reputation of being at the forefront of private higher education in South Africa, and is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to provide higher education qualifications accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).

The IIE is responsible for the academic governance and quality assurance of all programmes delivered through the campuses of all its educational brands, including Varsity College. The IIE has also been accredited by the internationally recognised quality assurance agency The British Accreditation Council (BAC). The BAC is an independent authority in the United Kingdom that accredits private providers globally. The IIE’s degrees, diplomas and higher certificates are offered at Varsity College campuses in Sandton, Pretoria, Waterfall, Cape Town, Nelson Mandela Bay, Durban North, Westville and Pietermaritzburg. Studies are also conducted online for those who choose to study via the Distance mode. The Varsity College teaching philosophy of ‘Quality Teaching for Quality Learning’ aims to make our students’ academic lives as interesting, meaningful and participative as possible. Learning, we believe, is a dynamic two-way exchange. Our unique, collaborative approach means students get to participate actively in their studies, engage with subject material, build understanding and develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. We are proud of our outstanding levels of academic excellence, but we also believe that academia should be balanced with a healthy sport and social life. Our purpose is to guide students to acquire the skills necessary for both life and the workplace.
