Woman's Day Car Wash

Sisters are doing it for themselves!

In celebration of Woman’s Day 2014, Varsity College Pietermaritzburg hosted an event with a variety of talks and activities, one of which included the female staff members washing the cars of students and colleagues to raise much needed funds for charity.

The event kicked off with an amazing inspirational poem written by a student and was followed by a very informative talk by a local dietician, Veni Maharaj. Mrs Maharaj conveyed the information in a simple, engaging manner and answered the number of questions posed to her. She left the group with ‘food ‘for thought about our relationship with food and sensible, healthy eating. Robin van Niekerk, a beauty and massage therapist followed with a talk on how to apply make-up and look your best.

The ‘car wash’, formed part of Varsity College’s fundraising efforts for the Masixhasane Literacy project, an organisation very close to Varsity College’s hearts as an educational institution. The initiative supplies Mobile Library Units to disadvantaged schools and communities in South Africa”. Imbaliyezwe Primary School in Inchanga will be receiving the library. The children at this school are deprived of basic literature.
