The many roads of an LLB

The legal profession is one of the oldest in the world and completing an LLB is an excellent step in opening up many different and very rewarding career paths.

For instance, if you complete an LLB degree, you will ensure a bright future for yourself. The financial success you may earn comes with hard work, but if Paralympic and SA Sprinting Champion, Samkelo Radebe can overcome the odds and complete the degree, then you have every chance to do it yourself.

In terms of the career paths that are open to you, here is a short list of the possibilities:
•    Attorney
•    Advocate
•    Compliance officer
•    Corporate governance
•    Public administration
•    Trade and Industry
Even the highest levels of government, such as the position of minister, are open to those who have completed their law studies.

Not only are there various different career paths in law, but there are several areas in which you can specialise. For instance, if you have an interest in biology and medicine, there is Medical Law; if you have a passion for the environment then you can help it by practising Environmental Law; however, if you want to rather help those in need then you can always work in Human Rights Law – the list really does go on and on.

At Varsity College, our interactive learning environments and blended learning encourage you to formulate arguments and express your opinions. Additionally, Varsity College’s Career Centre offers you the opportunity to build you CV with part-time work. Exposure to possible employers through career fairs and through our membership with the South African Graduate Recruitment Association (SAGRA) will all add up to your being a success in the law field.
