New Club To Crease

The IIE's Varsity College is proud to introduce the Brand's Cricket Club which will be based at its Cape Town campus. The club, a member of the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA), will join the "ranks" of one of the Brand's major sports clubs based on its Cape Town campus – Netball.

Says newly appointed, dedicated and seasoned coach and player Trevor Timm: "The VC Cricket Club third division's goal is to become a club with its own strong identity and culture. A club which will embrace innovation and bravery amongst team mates and which will develop players' natural abilities into greatness". Joining Timm as the club's vice chairperson and administrator is 23-year-old Christian Pietersen (2nd year IIE Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing).

Establishing the VC Cricket Club was spearheaded by Carole Adam (National Sports Manager The IIE's Varsity College), Brent Davids (Sports Coordinator The IIE's Varsity College Cape Town) and Megan Landman (Head of Student Services The IIE's Varsity College Cape Town).

Says Carole Adam: "With the move of our current Cape Town campus to the hub of the iconic Newlands Cricket Grounds Development mid-June this year, it made sense for us to make our new purpose built Cape Town campus the home of the VC Cricket Club.  We are super excited and can't wait for our team to start the season. During our first meeting as a national club we discussed the complexities the 2021 season may hold but we are ready to face it, regardless".
