      Instructions
      Section 10.6 in IIE 009

      Where a student, who gained entry to the summative assessment, has failed to present him or herself for a sitting of a summative examination or has failed to submit any other summative assessment on time for reasons other than the permitted general exceptions - one concessionary opportunity per academic year will be provided to students as long as an application is lodged on the Student Hub by the close of business (17:00) on the same day as the missed sitting or within 24 hours of the submission deadline.

      This concession will be:

      • If the missed summative assessment under examination conditions is in sitting 1 or 2, the student may write the missed summative in the next available sitting;
      • If the missed summative assessment under examination conditions is in sitting 3, the student will be required to write a replacement assessment within 7 working days; in these cases a fee for the setting of an additional paper may be charged.
      • If the missed summative was a submission, students are required to submit their application within 24 hours after the deadline for submission and the submission within 48 hours after the deadline for the original submission.
      1. In the case of pre-requisite modules where the follow on module will commence prior to the sitting for the replacement assessment the student will be permitted to register for the follow on module and in these cases only pre-requisite modules will be treated as co-requisites.
      2. In all instances the mark will be capped at 50% and will become the final mark for the module thereby replacing all CASS marks too.
      3. If the student has achieved the examination subminimum, they will still qualify for a supplementary exam.
      4. If the student is an undergraduate distance student and has qualified for the first sitting, they will be permitted a second attempt at a summative assessment
      5. If no application is made by the close of business on the same day as the missed assessment or within 24 hours of the submission deadline , a result of 0% is entered for the summative and the student will need to repeat the module.
