Varsity College’s Sports Life Program, an exciting sporting initiative offered across its seven campuses, gives students wishing to participate in various sports at VC the opportunity to do so. The program encourages students to get fit and keep their minds and bodies healthy, promoting balanced lifestyles.

Some of the recent Sports Life highlights are:

• Sean Rice, the VC Cape Town Surfski Club Captain narrowly beating Dawid Mocké, owner of VC Surfski School, in a thrilling finish to win the first race of the summer Discovery Sunglass Hut Surfski Series. A number of Cape Town students who are part of the VC Cape Town Canoe club will also be participating in the series.
• The VC Pretoria triathlon club participated in the BS Triathlon Series at Roodeplaat Dam. Our team made VC very proud when they 4th overall, and the VC Pretoria Sports Life Club Captain, Estiaan de Lange came 6th in his individual event.
• Hendrik Kruger (VC Pretoria Mountain Bike Club Captain) came 2nd in the Deutsche Bank Mauritius Cycle Tour.
• Grant van der Walt, Durban North Canoeing Club Captain won the 2010 Fish River canoe Marathon with his partner Hank McGregor. This was after he had just come back from World Junior Canoe Championships where Grant was placed 4th.
