Introduction
A vital component to the success of any organisation is the strength of the relationship that it maintains with its various stakeholders. Maintaining this relationship requires technical skill, effective communication ability and strategic thinking. This Diploma is a three year programme that gets students involved in practical elements of public relations.
 
Who is this Diploma aimed at?
If you aspire to become a public relations consultant, promote or manage an organisations public image and relationship with its staff, customers and investors then this qualification is for you.  Liaising with the media, writing and editing press releases, writing press releases and producing in house journals and staff magazines are all activities that should excite you.
 
What is this Diploma’s accreditation status?
The Diploma in Public Relations is accredited by the Council on Higher Education as a Higher Education Qualification at level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).  It is also registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) ID number: 58694.
 
What is PRISA?
Established in 1957, the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) represents professionals in public relations and communication management throughout the southern African region and has registered practitioners in Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and South Africa.

It is a founding member of the Global Alliance for Public Relations & Communication Management and initiated the formation of the Council for Communication Management (CCM) in South Africa. The Council is the coordinating body representing various groupings of professionals in South Africa.

What is an endorsement?
The Diploma in Public Relations is endorsed by PRISA. Endorsement of a learning programme is an indication to the marketplace that a formal process has been undertaken to ensure that the programme on offer is of a high quality, and has met the criteria laid down by the authorising body.

PRISA is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the provision of education and training, related to public relations and communication, in Southern Africa. What entry requirements will I need to study this Diploma?
You will need a minimum of a National Senior Certificate with English at a rating of two (30-39%) and have met the minimum requirements for admission to a Diploma or Bachelors degree, a Senior Certificate, or an equivalent qualification.  A certified copy of your National Senior Certificate (Std 10/Grade 12 school leaving certificate) or an equivalent qualification must be submitted to the campus.
